JB maintains muscle mass while competing in ultra marathons on a carnivore diet

As an avid endurance athlete, I found myself abusing caffeine and legal stimulants to keep up with my intense workouts. I decided to get some blood work done to see what was up! It was at this time I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid; of which I would be forced to take a hormone replacement pill every day for the rest jof my life. This was approximately 10 years ago and at the time I was loosely following a ketogenic type diet. Upon being diagnosed, was when I began to do more research into my diet. I would not allow this diagnosis to be an excuse in anyway and I believe it motivates me even more to progress and be even better each day! Since then I have embraced a very high fat, high protein, mostly animal base diet along with intermitting fasting protocols that I designed myself suited for my job, my training, and lifestyle needs. It has been an incredible game changer. 10 years later, I feel that my energy and capacity for my workouts has increased 10 fold, I compete in 3 to 4 Ultra marathons per year ranging from 50 miles to 100 miles runs at a highly competitive level.  I am able to maintain muscle mass and my muscular build through my diet and weight lifting regiment even though my excessive Cardio and Aerobic workouts should be deteriorating both my muscle mass and strength. This Diet and the mindset of “do not believe what others tell you what you can and cannot do” is what this movement really is representing. Research, learn and stay moving!

Tiffany overcame decades of food addiction on a carnivore diet

I lost 130 lbs with a combination of intermittent fasting and low carb paleo eating. In January 2020 when I began experimenting with a carnivore diet, my goals were primarily for body recomposition as I needed to tighten loose skin and build muscle after going from 260 down to 130 lbs. (I am 5’8”)

I have had many more NSVs than that now that I have been exclusively carnivore for the last several months.

-I wake before my alarm
– I have sustained energy throughout the day
– I’m now training for a marathon because my legs want to move
– I’m almost never hungry and actually remind myself to eat
– I sleep more soundly and need less sleep overall
– I’m more productive because my thinking is sharp and clear
– Body recomposition: I’ve lost 1” from my rib cage, 2” from my hips, and 3 1/2” from my waist
– Anxiety is gone
– Age spots are fading
– The most important NSV of all, sticking to a carnivore diet helped me overcome decades of sugar addiction and carb binges.

Miscellaneous info – Shawn Baker’s carnivore book was my gateway to starting, and I joined meat rx for the 30 day trial January 2020. My full length before/after is 2015 to March 2020. The up close before/after is 2011 to 2020. The most recent before/after shows the difference when I made my most recent tweaks (increase fat/protein ratio and eliminate salt) The difference is from Thanksgiving day to December 18.

David reduced damage to his knees on a carnivore diet

A little about me.

52 yo, 177cm (5’10”)

Weight in 2009 107kg

Current weight 79kg

Have knee stability issues and have had 8 operations on them with the 1st being when I was 15, last one being 25 yrs ago.

Minimal cartilage in knees so have not played sport since early 20’s

With minimal exercise and a lot of travel for work, weight has always been an issue during adult life.

In 2012 I started exercising (walking then building up to running) and eating differently, dropped weight from 107kg to 75kg but when I stopped, it quickly went back up to 100kg

In June 2018, I watched the Magic Pill movie and decided that changing to ketogenic lifestyle for long term health would be beneficial.

My reasoning for this decision was that I had watched my father suffer from Parkinson’s Disease and dementia as well as working part time in mental health, and seeing the links between food and mental health I wanted to try to avoid these issues.

I started the next day and over the following 6 mths dropped 25kg and felt fantastic everyday.

I had slowly lowered my carbs from 20gm a day to under 10gm so in June 2019, I thought I’d try a month of zero carb, so tried carnivore.

My body felt so much better so I never went back to ketogenic.

Since going carnivore the pains in my arthritic knees have all but gone, my body composition has changed more, with less fat and a lot leaner muscle

The past 3 January’s I have participated in an 800km in 8 day charity bike ride in Thailand, and seeing the difference has been amazing

January 2018 – SAD completed and was tired most nights

January 2019 – Ketogenic had lots of energy, longest day was 150km which I rode fasted for 24hrs

January 2020 – Carnivore similar energy to 2019, though felt a lot stronger, again rode fasted especially when provided lunch was not suitable.

Josh lost weight on the carnivore diet

My name is Josh and I am 32 years old. Back in December my wife and I had a baby, the months leading up the delivery of our baby girl, I was eating anything and everything. If the wife would get cravings I would get cravings. All of a sudden we are sent into a lockdown due to Covid which just got my diet out of control and I desperately needed a change. I started to feel very out of shape, weighing my heaviest at 210 lbs.

Shedding the lockdown weight

I have seen a free online 30 day shred competition pop up on my Facebook one day that was starting May 1st, 2020. I thought to myself, hey I may as well register and that will be a great start. I ended up winning that competition and with that came 3 months free training from a very reputable trainer based out of Los Angeles. My diet consisted of animal based products and a lot of training! 6 days a week, twice a day. I did a daily fasted cardio early in the morning before work, and then I would do some weight lifting at night.

Fast forward to today I am at my goal weight of 180 lbs. Thanks for allowing me to share my carnivore diet success story!

Steve improved his depression and has not had a seizure on a carnivore diet

Hi, my name is Steve. I would like to share my story in the hopes that it will be inspirational to others.
I’m 34 years young. In my 20s I was a footballer. I played 3rd & 2nd grade for Manly Marlins. I was your average young guy who loved to party & have fun. On the 29th April 2012 I was playing a game & hit my head however I continued playing & then after the game went out with my mates & got drunk. To cut a long story short, it turns out that I had a concussion & the next thing I knew I awoke in hospital after being in a coma for 2 weeks. I has suffered a hypoxic brain injury. A result I was left severely disabled. I was wheelchair bound, had brain damage, I became vision impaired, I lost a lot of weight, had a lot of trouble chewing, swallowing and talking. Worst of all I developed epilepsy and was having regular seizures which seemed to make my disabilities even worse.

Over the past 8 years I have suffererd with severe depression & anxiety. I have a fantastic team of therapists and carers & very slowly have seen some improvement.

In November 2019 my carer suggested a ketogenic diet which very swiftly changed to a carnivore diet.
Since then my depression & anxiety has gone, I cannot explain how good I feel. My eyesight has improved to the extent that I no longer need glasses, my speech has improved, I have put back on most of the weight I had lost (and gained lots of muscle tone).
I also had major trouble with my sinuses, my nose was constantly blocked or running but that has now stopped, my sinuses are clear. Best thing ever is that I have not had a seizure this whole time.

Since being plant free I have:
– more energy and feel better than ever
– recieved a positive blood test showing healthy ranges of all blood markers including normal nutrient levels. LDL was high but triglycerides were very low
– regular and health bowel motions
– recieved a great report from my councellor, saying she had never seen me in a better mental state
– recieved an amazing report from my chiropractor saying hes never seen me in better condition and does not want to touch me
– recieved a great report from my OT saying she was very pleased with the progress ive made and i had better keep doing what i am doing
– improved fine motor skills
– improved cognotive ability, i have so many great ideas for future projects
– not had a virus, cold, or allegy, in fact my nasal congestion issues have decreased massively
– felt a huge improvement to my dental hygeine. i was having massive problems before and the dentist said i would need to go back soon probably for another filling however i am not experiencing any pain or discomfort.

I take no supplements or medication apart from Keppra for my epilepsy, however I believe I will be able to come off that one day.

I believe whole heartedly in this diet, I am educating myself about it constantly and hope to have a blog to help educate others one day.
